Microsoft - Brand Stories
How to take another angle on a world-known brand?
We’ve been tasked by the Microsoft comms team to tell digital transformation stories that showcase the positive impact of Microsoft on the people, communities and future of Australia.
We sourced interesting stories with 5 principles in mind.
They need to work across channels, to be about the customers not Microsoft, to exploit the conflict at the heart of tech, to plan for conversation and to tailor content to the channel. Here are 2 examples that we did.
A team of scientists is focused on protecting biodiversity in Darwin Harbour, a body of water that is three times the size of Sydney Harbour. More than 3,000 marine invertebrates and 415 fish species inhabit this pristine marine environment, which still has 78% of its natural vegetation. A world-first AI has been deployed in Darwin Harbour by NT Fisheries to help preserve the Harbour. Powered by Microsoft technology, it can identify and count 415 types of fish in Darwin Harbour. No other AI monitoring of wildlife comes close to that.
Downer Group is responsible for maintaining Sydney’s fleet of Waratah trains. A team recognised the opportunity to harness the data in a way that would transform the way that maintenance and engineering resources were deployed.
Using Microsoft AI, train data has become the main indicator for the health of the rolling stock and a way to identify maintenance requirements in real-time. The project has enabled the company to move from a periodic maintenance timetable to predictive maintenance, with improved efficiency and increased on-track time for the fleet as a whole.
